I-cord Placemat or Coaster Knitting Pattern


This simple, double knitting pattern for an I-cord placemat or coaster is a fun, quick and easy knit.

The table mat can be made to suit any decor and the size can be adjusted as required.

Worked here in Patons Fab Double Knitting, the pattern is equally suitable for other DK yarns as tension is not crucial.

Instructions are clear and simple to follow. The illustrations are eye catching and informing.

Ideal for knitting beginners, a set can be a satisfying, successful project and is ideal for individualising any home.

Skills Needed:     Cast on, Knit an I-cord, Seam, Sew Blanket Stitch.


1 x 100g ball Patons Fab Double Knitting

A pair of 4mm Double Pointed Needles

A sheet of Natural Ecru 3-4mm 100% Wool Felt (available on ebay)

A sewing needle with an eye large enough for Double Knitting wool.

A tea plate to use as a measure of size. 

A mathematical compass for drawing a felt circle and a line for seaming.

Tension is not crucial to this project.


Completed Size: As required.
